    ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- The effort by U.S. officials to justify raising the terror alert level last week may have shut down an important source of information that has already led to a series of al Qaeda arrests, Pakistani intelligence sources have said.

    Until U.S. officials leaked the arrest of Muhammad Naeem Noor Khan to reporters, Pakistan had been using him in a sting operation to track down al Qaeda operatives around the world, the sources said.

          Have you read the 9/11 report? There's an interesting section there about the money trails. The US is so quick to shut them down and look good in the media that they lose an opportunity to follow the money to the big operators. It's like making a drug bust of a user with a gram and not following the trail up to the kingpin. No DEA agent would dream of doing that. It's just stupid.

          They need to shut the fuck up and find the bastards that are planning to hurt us here or abroad. If that means that the media is tough on them, so be it. If that means they lose the next election. Good.
          Bush can no more fire Rove than Charlie McCarthy could fire Edgar Bergen.

              They needed to justify it for the people of the US not the democrates. Every one questioned the timing of their announcement because of the Deomcratic convention and John Kerry.

              Its better that the threat level is on the news, than to have John Kerry get anymore higher in the polls.

              They could have kept it in intellegence and used it to the best of thier advantage....

              or did they do that already.

              I barely saw the democratic national convention in the news...

              but I saw the republican convention for a week and a half.
