Anyone know any way around having to leave the country every

Too bad about what happen in Bali...my friend was out there and it was just a shame.

How's about Guam and Fuji? Or even mainland China...I'm assuming HK isn't what it used to be.

I've got armies of friends living in Thailand. Everthing's cheap, and you can get top of the line everything.

Word of caution. Don't break the laws, look behind every door for ' If you ring the bell you buy a round of drinks for everyone' signs.

Whats keeping them from threatening you for no reason and asking for thousands of dollars..? Are they "nice" corrupt cops?

Been in Bangkok about a year (off an on) now. Only cheap things really are rent, medical and Thai food.

The expensive thing is having to leave the country every couple months, and your 'luxury' western items will be as much if not more expensive then they are in your own country.
Have been living here for a year now, and to be honest spend the same (if not more) then I did in the states. However, I have a significant other that keeps me here so be careful as Thai's do have a way to make you fall in love. ;)

More complaints: Very hot all the time, tons of pollution, corruption etc.

My advice if you want to live there is:

                    1. Learn Thai. You will get ripped off and have many problems otherwise, as the majority of people just speak a little English.

                    2. Read some books on the culture, and respect it. It can be a shock and save you from a lot of trouble later.

                    3. As mentioned, porn (as well as any work without a work permit) is illegal so always be discreet about it. Don't advertise that is your job, or tell anyone...all a Thai has to do if you anger them is tell the police you are working and 'bam' you can be thrown out of the country never to return.

                    4. If you plan to shoot content, make sure everyone involved is happy, don't give anyone your name and don't become friends with the models. Be very careful, and very paranoid...you don't want to end up in a Thai jail. Make sure you have a lot of money on you and pray you can pay off the cop if you are found.

Thailand is not all glitter and gold...but the guys (and girls) are hot, sexuality is very free and the people and certain areas (outside Bangkok) are quite beautiful. Good luck!

What kind of internet connections are available?
I pay 6,000 Baht (about $150) a month for my DSL in Thailand which is maybe half the speed of my connection in the states I paid $40 per month for. Many times, the Internet just goes down or crawls for hours at a time for no reason.

For 20,000 Baht (about $500) a month, you can get a pretty good connection, but who the fuck wants to pay $500 a month?

Unfortunately, not many other options unless you want a 56k modem; personally, I'd rather shoot myself.

Thailand's New Year holidays this year were the deadliest ever with 716 people killed in road accidents, as the prime minister vowed Saturday to tackle reckless driving after his own daughter was involved in a minor traffic scrap.
