im talking from experience watching people complain about designers and getting fucked over, its always some person no ones heard of, and is shady...

im just saying deal with people that are known and recommended, you stand a better chance of not getting fucked or getting the run a round, but i know for a fact right now, because of internext and xmas, some designers, including myself are very overbooked and soetimes excuses are totally legit.

This is the way to go! Even with programmers! You go with ones that have a good recommendation! Not just the cheapest one! You need one that will do the work good and right and then be there if there's a bug!

But I've heard complaints about some programmers disappearing! And it's now hard for us to want the money up front but the client is scared because he doesn't know if he's gonna get the product!

So every part of this industry were fucked!

Thanks for the replies guys.

I went with him because I liked what I saw in his portfolio and because he specifically designs TGP's...

I have only found a few designers that design TGP's and understand their unique nature and he is the only one I saw that did good logos too...

We told him he could have a link to his site also

Oh well good opportunity for someone to design two tgps on two high profile domains - fucked.com and freeporn.com - you must be able to do kickass logos

I've done TGP.. The client specify a very simple design on this one though.. http://www.s2outsource.com/site_compre/pv_site/ Of course you can give your own specifications on what you want your design will look like.

$149 for a tgp design.

It's really too bad about this guy because he obviously does kickass work. I'm sure he must have some reason for dissappearing this long.

And all this talk about phoney family members dying, I was myself part of family member death last year that caused some personal trauma that did affect my clients, so it's not always phoney, and in all cases I either refunded 100% of money or did another design and nobody got robbed despite the hype.

Unfortunately everyone always remembers the slander but don't bother to check up on resolutions on the frequent accusations people like to sling around.

Well there's two sides to every story. In all the years I've been designing logos and toons I've NEVER been ripped off by a client UNTIL I started posting to this board.

Only 2 people who post here paid and didn't give any bullshit. That's out of 80 or so requests.

Sure sometimes a client or an artist runs into personal problems. Believe you me I've had my share as well as clients. Things happen, you work around em' and build better relationships.

For one, I don't do business over ICQ. You either have a legit email address and business location and phone or fuck off.

I'll have guys ICQ me every fucking day with "I've got a deal for you, blah blah yadda bullshit " and all they're doing is proxying for someone else.

I don't just drop a client when I'm done with their illustration. If they need a change a year down the line I do it for no charge.

So as for GFYers, don't ICQ me for business purposes. It ain't happenin'.
