TIP: Put that 3g in a ROTH IRA so you won't have to pay taxes on your gains. Most of us can put in 3k a year but read the rules as they vary based on marital status and income level. Nice article JFK.. I don't take a lot of time to invest but when I was actively doing the investing thing I spread my money out through blue chip stocks and also government bonds.. did about a 60/40 split and was agressive with 60% of my money in the blue chips and the other 40 went into the government bonds which didn't have a great return but it didn't lose either. I think I averaged about a 6.9% gain per quarter.
