    Israel announced plans today to double the number of Jewish settlers living in the Golan Heights, a disputed region captured from Syria in 1967.
    In a move which could derail talks with Damascus, the Israeli agriculture minister, Yisrael Katz, told the daily Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper that the government wanted to consolidate its hold over the region before opening any peace negotiations with Syria.

                                          On my side, my second wife was jewish. I was married to her 14 years. A rabbi and a cantor were performing the ceremony.

                                          To get married under reform judaism, I attended integration courses , including the basic of hebrew language. I attended all high holidays, followed jewish customs including wearing the kippa ( maybe wrong spelling, but have no time).

                                          I am still very good friends with her brother and father....

                                                                                                                                                  The term "anti-Semitism" is so misused and bandied about, in response to any criticism at all of Israel or some aspects of Judaism, that it has little meaning anymore. To me, anyway.

                                                                                                                                                  For example, even though I identify with Christianity and Islam more than any other religion, I don't slap labels of "anti-Christ" and "anti-Islam" on those who might condemn pedophilia in the Church or terrorism among some Muslims.

                                                                                                                                                  I disagreed with pushing Native Americans out of their lands due to some "God-given right" of Manifest Destiny, and I disagree with Israelis doing the same thing to Palestinians. This disdain does not make one an anti-Semite, it makes one a realist.

                                                                                                                                                  There are also some Jews who even believe that Israel has no right to exist until Messiah comes, and that the current Israel is a fake one, yet they are often dismissed by some as "self-hating Jews."
