....and in summary for those who didn't quite understand: I had made specific plans to stay in town as opposed to go visit my Aunt for the Holidays and he never showed up, and continued to call and say he was on his way for the 4 following days. Normally at that point I would have called it quits but he came over lastnight.... and I asked him to stay with me as opposed to going home for dinner with his Mother. He left because he was afraid she would get mad at him for missing dinner. I figured that I had been through enough over the holidays and asking him to stay on a non-holiday and work through things wasn't asking too much, but apparently it was.

Enough said, issue dropped.......... If he's going to let his Mother tell him who he can and can't date when she's never met me..it's his loss, not mine. I never asked him to put me in front of his Mother, just to give me some respect. I'm a little shocked that some of you think it's ok that a grown man listens to his Mom about who he can and can't date.

Women have egos just like men do. We hate the feeling of rejection and we take it personally, no matter if it's for another woman or for someone's mother. We want to feel like we're the most important person to someone and a guy who plays hard to get, is even more intriguing.

Chances are, if this same 22 year old guy was doting over her, she'd be turned off by that as well. When a guy rejects a woman or whatever the circumstance may be, the woman will focus all of her attention on wondering why he would do this to her, why he doesn't "want" her, why he isn't tripping over his own tongue and moving mountains to be with her. The more abusive and/or uncaring the guy is, the more interested the woman is in him... UNTIL she wins him over and he's dancing to her tune. I will admit, women implore a certain degree of "pussy power" to manipulate men and their emotions. Women say we want nice, mature, loyal, honest guys etc, but the truth is... we more often than not, completely overlook the "nice guys" and waste years of our lives conquering men who will break our hearts and make us an emotional wreck. When a woman finds her "perfect" match, it's a mutual attraction immediately and the head games never come into play. That's when a real relationship occurs. By real, I mean something long term, that doesn't involve the thrill of the chase and airing dirty laundry on a message board.

But then building the relationship after that from an ultimatum, isn't exactly mature either. You are correct in saying what you see is what you get with me. Life is too short to play games with people. I value my time too much and have the same respect for other peoples time. Why play games and waste the energy when it can be used more constructively in other ways.

Too many people hold on to a bad situation too long. I look at problems like this.... If its going to be an issue a day, week, month, year from now, I deal with it now and move on. If its not going to be a issue, I just let it roll off my shoulders.

Bottom line.. Nobody is perfect and if they say they are then they are lying. As long as you can wake up in the morning and like the person you are and know you are working towards changing the things you consider faults then that is all that matters. Then at least if someone doesn't like or accept you for who you are, you can take comfort in knowing that you are being yourself.
