For TGP galleries, I use Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Fireworks (for my batch image processing).
For my movie galleries, I use all of the above and do all my clip slicing using VideoChargeComment

Don't buy video charge. It's the biggest piece of shit and it's mpeg compression is some of the worst I've ever seen. The dude from video charge did a massive spam campaign this summer on all the boards. That's prolly where you bought it. Shit, I tried it out even.
If you want something good and free for mpegs, all you need is TMPGEnc
For windows media and asf, all you need is asf tools
and for awesome movie caps all you need is movie thumbs.
