Is there anyway to set the view of the desktop icons into a list? Same thing that you can do to regular directories by hitting View -> List in the menu.
Is this possible todo to the win2k desktop?

as far as i am aware you cant, i dont really see why you would want to, there is plenty of space on the desktop anyway. the best you can do is reduce icon size to 16px. i only have 2 icons on the desktop anyway so i guess this isnt an issue for me.
of course you could just open up an explorer window if you wanted to work with the desktop contents in list view -
i have desktop icons hidden, and a "desktop" toolbar on the taskbar, with an arrow and i click the arrow and it lists everything on my desktop.....
desktop has been icon free for about 2 years and I absolutely love it!

Just delete all the crap on it. Sometimes when I get lazy I just make a folder called "Old Desktop" or something and move everything into it incase I need it.
Or I think you can right click the desktop and go to properties.. I think it's in the effects tab or something... "Hide desktop icons"... something like that.
...or install linux. It won't help with this particular issue... but it will prevent future ones.±ß³ - (5327381)²Comment

i dont remember if this works with win2000, but it should.
right click on the desktop, arrange icons by, uncheck the "show desktop icons" - might be a little different in 2000.
then on the taskbar, right click and choose "toolbars/desktop"
hope this helps
