Do you look at the keys when you type?

Stock, I'm a graduate of NYU with a major in computer science, (circa1984) and I still type with two fingers and need to look. I guess to each his own.

I never look down at the keyboard, but if I have to use my laptop in the dark I make all kinds of errors.. I think it's all in my head.

i can type all this with out looking at the keyboard, i didnt look at the keyboard since the hight school thats when they thought me how to type properly !

Funny, just had this conversation with a friend, about how typing class turned out to be the most useful and practical class of all from high school.

I enjoyed typing class, and keep in mind this was about 35 years ago when computers weren't even in use yet, so most of the guys were thinking when the hell will I ever need to know how to be a perfect typist in life, that's something secretaries should learn.

Little did we know the future for our fingers.

Typing class was the only good course I EVER took. It is useful up until today.

My parents RENTED a typewriter for me to practice on when I was a freshman back in 1969.
I used to type in my head when I had conversations with people. I ended up typing over 110 words a minute and my first jobs were typist jobs. (that was before data entry via computer it was all done with carbon copied forms)
I switched to a 'natural' keyboard a few years ago for ergonomic reasons - and the only time I need to look at the keys now, is if I use my laptop - and I need to make sure I have my fingers in the right place to start with.

i use four fingers and I can type without looking, it just takes a little longer than if i glance down every once in awhile.

I actually type faster with 4 fingers (index and middle) than I do with my whole hand, because I can't control my ring finger and pinky well enough.

i don't anymore but it took time. when i started doing this i sucked and rarely used computers aside from playing video games on them. i took typing class in grade 9 but got like 54% and hated it. i never would of thought i'd end up working with computers.

In my country we don?t have typing classes, so yes I do look.

Uh, everytime I don't look at the keys! Take a typing tutor! It saves you time if you don't have to look at the keys!
