Are you a certified engineer (RH) or so?

Never bothered with certifications. It's testament enough that I have over 2,000 deployed redhat servers in the past 6 years, combining the beowulf clusters I've built for various scientific/academia communities, as well as the HA clusters I've built for various dot-coms.

Exactly. I undercharge because my only interest is building up a clientel, and living my life working enough to pay the bills. I'm done with 100 hour work weeks. 15 hours a week and i'm set.

He ain't overpriced. A good consultant and/or sysadmin is definitly worth that kind of money.

Rudeboi, not questioning your skillz, but I have to disagree with you.
Nowadays it's getting harder and harder to get a job without the 'right' certifications. I found out myself a while ago, when I was looking for a job, that companies find it hard to select personnel and use certifications and stuff more and more as criteria.
I know that, most of the times, it says nothing about the real quality, but as a lot of companies lack the knowledge to select people on skillz, so they go for the education/certifications.

Just my advice, as you already have the knowledge consider taking an exam. You probably don't need a bootcamp or something, just a good book ( I can hook you up with some testexams if you want) and the exam. Costs and effort shouldn't be that high/big and the cert + your experience will make you a perfect candidate for anyone looking for some good skillz and knowledge.

Anyway, just my 2 cents based on my own experience.

The exams are just a waste of money. When I've been in hiring positions, I always preferred functional interviews over glamour interviews. I ignore education and certifications completly. Anybody can take a test. If I wanted to, I could pass the RHCE, the RHCE, THE CISSP, the CCNA/CCNP/CCND, Solaris tests, and the other offshoot linux tests like the one from SAGE, without blinking. It's not worth the money.

I really don't have any problem getting work nowadays, but the work I get is boring. I'd rather do work with the adult industry, than the new crop of startups that are popping up here in the valley.

My last project was a $7k a week infrastructure design project that killed my social life, forget that. I'd rather bring in a grand a week doing easy (for me) work from home, and spend the rest of the time working on my own sites, working on women, and playing in my band.

The only real challenge, is that in the startup world I'm pretty well known and I don't have to advertise my skills, I just get a few calls a week asking if I'm available.. In the adult industry, I haven't yet figured out the intricacies of slacking my wares.
