I think anything done by a sponsor to give misinformation to an affiliate is dishonest, even if it gives the affiliate more money in his pocket. They make the test results look good, its cheaper than running a banner on gfy. But what happens when you commit a lot of traffic based on that misinformation?

I think I'm going to open my stats to the public and give sponsors the chance to adjust their stats before closing out a month's stats
