Credit Card Charges --- The Banks Information?

Just saw a topic that was made me think of this question.

When doing a charge with somebody, does anybody know something I don't when it comes to actually tracing back the bank information? Not the actual merchant, but the bank that is running the charges for them. I 'don't' think our credit card companies can provide this by calling them up but maybe I'm wrong.

Anybody have any ideas or insight of how to obtain this information?

Did you try to call them and ask?

Well, I have called BOFA for a Visa Check Card transaction and they couldn't tell me so I assume that my regular credit cards can't as well.

      That's why I said maybe I'm wrong.

It is not immediate but it is possible to obtain, but why do you need it ?

              Its possible somehow i think.

if you look at creditcards from the same bank, it looks like always they are having the same 6 numbers in the begin.

dont know it for sure but it looks like.
