i'm looking to open an account with either Scottrade, Etrade, or Ameritrade.. which company do you recommend using?

i'd like to be able to trade penny stocks too, ive heard some companies dont allow it online.

my first account deposit will be $2,000

I have accounts with both Ameritrade and Etrade. I don't think you can go wrong with either. They are the bigger players have plenty of tools and are easy to use.

I am not sure about the penny stocks though. That is something you will have to look into.

if you plan on playing with just 2k, stick with an online company. If you decide to up the stakes, you are better off with a firm.

I have a standard account with them. One of the reasons I have two accounts is when I first started with etrade I didnt look around enough for less expensive trading options. I got in a few good positions and then found Ameritrade. Ive left the Etrade account idle. Its only a few k so I havent bothered to close the current positions I am just letting them ride.

Ameritrade is cheaper without a doubt. I am paying 10.95 per trade.

FM, for a first timer.. you'd recommend Ameritrade over Etrade?

I suggest Ameritrade, the last time I checked the fees and the services of Etrade...I opened an account with Ameritrade

i was looking at mutual funds but i think im gonna do some research and play with small stocks..

but yea i would have definitely jumped on Acacia months ago when all industry people were secretly buying it up.. i'm sure some people made some nice coin off that..
