It seems to me that you guys are a little slow on the uptake.
ARS have sold or given away their affiliates email address.

There are a few more ways they could have gotten your address but no point getting into those. Add a filter and delete them.. it isnt hard to filter considering they're all coming from to the same address.

ldinternet's problems are all coming from one affilliate. Look at the to: addresses and look at the subject lines. They were all obviously made by the same guy who isn't managing his list properly.

Indeed, BUT on the flipside, how many others here promote ARS products? Dont you think there would be a few more pissed off webmasters considering the amount of spam he is getting if the list was out?

It's quite probably likely this is not from ARS's list but some other person's list.

Uhhh.. in all liklihood it's being spoofed.. It's very easy for them to make an email address [email protected], and depending on how your mailserver is set up for your domains, it will still forward all email to that domain to the first active email account... We had a problem with someone spamming our [email protected], and someone thought we sold our email list because he had made that specific address for it. However it happens all the time and they seem to cycle through company names to make it LOOK like that's the company that's sending the spam.

What I'm saying is that it doesn't have to exist for people to spoof email from it.

Actually it looks like it is.. Unless the email is from the adultrevenueservice.com DOMAIN I don't think it's from them. Do you have ANY idea how easy it is to make an email look like it's from someone else? Post the header information and then I can tell you.. Believe me we've run our own mailserver for like, 10 years, and it's amazing to see how sneaky people can be.

Idinternet - why would we spam you? The ONLY bulk email we send is our newsletter In Focus. We don't sell or give away our WM list (that is the craziest thing I've heard of).

Sorry for your troubles but its most definitely NOT us.

Believe me we've run our own mailserver for like, 10 years, and it's amazing to see how sneaky people can be.
Of course I do. I'm not an idiot, I have received mail addressed to email accounts I don't own in the past. As I said, spoofing isn't the case here. I wouldn't have posted it if I wasn't sure.

Anyway, look at these headers. Keep in mind that there is mail forwarding going on to my account @mail.netdirect-online.co.uk

server.choopa.com is the name of the server.
and that server FORWARDS all mail from adultrevenueservice@ to [email protected]

The mail ISN'T being sent to [email protected] with adultrevenueservice@ as the spoofed domain. Any decent tech will tell you that this is standard mail forwarding with no spoofing.

The fact is if you have your default on to take anything and the spammer doesn't get a bounce, that addy is added to the spammer's list, and often resold to another. Period.

I recently had to turn off all my wildcard defaults and pick up a copy of Mail Washer which can bounce back spam and get you off of lists.

Either way, no matter what you say, I doubt any one is going to be stupid enough to spam you with their own company name. And certainly not ARS.

I get spam to email addresses and domains that I don't own (@sex.com, @aol.com, etc), all of the time, and it's pretty obvious to see upon looking at the headers, that the TO address displayed in Outook Express is fake.

Either way, no matter what you say, I doubt any one is going to be stupid enough to spam you with their own company name. And certainly not ARS.
Although I do have wildcard forwarding, what you're saying is... somebody guessed the exact email address that I submitted to ARS, on an obscure domain? It could've been adrevservice, ars, arservice, arssponsor, or any other combination, and they got it spot on?

And I'm hardly likely to go signup for join4free with adultrevenueservice@

The problem is when you use a businessname like that, the liklihood is that someone will try to spam it at your domain name eventually. It happens a million times.
