Compared to Britain, you don't. American "sports" cars are notorious the world over for being very fast in a straight line, but handling like shit if they encounter the slightest hint of a corner.
And the reason they seem to be constantly criticising everything is because, unlike US motoring journalists, they don't care if they might annoy the car companies. I subscribe to "Top Gear", "Car" and "Evo" from the UK, and "Car & Driver" and "Road & Track" from the US - in the past three years I have NEVER seen a bad review of a car in a US car magazine or on US television, and there have been plenty of bad cars...
