I had to laugh because my fiance and I had the same sorta fight about a year ago. Speaking from my point of view, it's not that we're ungrateful or unappreciative. It's a control thing. I don't like vacations planned for me or major purchases made for me. Depends on if I liked the car or not hehe. I guess I would be a little mad that I didn't get to pick it out on my own. OK - it's just that I've read articles about this German photographer who has become a millionaire making the ad pics for the new Mercedes and BMW models.

He has spent years and years learning how to get the best out of the pics. He takes loads of pics which he then puts together so that no-one can see that they've been photoshopped.

I guess all the big car makers do that to a certain extent.

Well, I already knew she liked the car...and it was just released in the same color as a car she was looking at earlier this year.

Anytime something costs more than a couple hundred bucks, her ass clinches so tight. It doesn't bother me at all to spend money on tings I want. She knows how much I invest, how much I've saved, and how much is in my checking acct...so I don't know why she worries so much.

Here's an example. She'll spend a bunch of trinkets for the house that total 500-1000 bucks, but it's ok because not one of the items was more than $50. She got a great deal on all that shit!!! $500 goes easy that way, but spending $500 on one thing is very difficult. Why is that?

No offense taken. I didn't say it was right, just how it was for me. I have big time problems with giving up control. It started out as me being "bratty" as a kid and "bossy" as a teen and young adult. Now I'm a control freak and a bitch.

I would love to have been able to say that whatever ring he picked out would be great with me and let him have fun with it. There's just no way I could say that and be truthful. I'm getting better about it, but still have a long way to go.

Sounds like you knew what kind of car she wanted, etc and got it for her. I doubt he'd be sleeping in the garage for something like that, but I'd probably grumble a little too much about how he should have talked to me about it first, blah blah. It's a big purchase and our money is pooled so big decisions like that should be made together. If we each had our own money, it might be different. Nah. Who and I trying to kid. I'm downright unreasonable and controlling at times, hell you typically can't even offer to help me without me grumbling about how I can handle it on my own blah blah but.....

I was recently presented with much the same, not via a husband/fiance'/boyfriend, in any case I was simply awed. Still am really so I don't know that even as a controlling pain in the ass I can agree with the bitching about the car but.....being unreasonable myself I can understand.
