Its the coolest thing you will ever experience, but you have to be emotionally, financially and mentally ready to handle it all. It costs about $1 million to raise a child now from start to finish by the way. Most people don't have any idea how much money it takes.
Getting married is an adventure in and of itself during the first couple years. You add having a child on that and I'll tell you start taking meditation classes now, because its not so easy keeping your wits, and staying calm, and not getting frustrated during the first 2 years which are the most trying.

I agree with everything you said except waiting until you're financially ready.
Granted, you don't want to be living on foodstamps, but if you're waiting until all of your financial difficulties go away, MOST people will wait a very long time.
And never have children.
