Make a really hardcore exit chain / surfer trap type of thing (hardcore as in it jerks the surfer around until they do what you want, not as in free pr0n).

I'm not sending them to a popup/banner hell, but to a neat no-popup page wich asks them what they want (what kind of porn). The CTR is quite good actually (1:80), and the conversion from unique to qualified is good too (1:4) for 404 traffic.

We've had a lot of success buying, whether your direct 404s, or portions (exit and/or entry traffic) of it.

Try sending it to a hub of category links.. qualify as much as possible of course.

Or if you are having NO luck converting it, send it to a broker.

my script throws password hackers, etc. to a menu page, but i don't think i can do much with this traffic.

(although they do want to get into my sites enough to try to hack the password files)

is there a market for this freeloader type traffic?

Some good words from you too. Go sell the traffic! You've got it, and obviously the traffic is from people who are just freeloading your stuff (and thus costing you bandwidth).

I'm currently sending all the 404 traffic i've got to a sponsor (through the option page) just to see how it converts. After that (if it didn't work out the way i want it to) i'll be on the lookout for a 404 traffic buyer, see how much money that will give me
