Germans! I need your help!

I'm sure I'll be bumping this in the next few days, but while it's on my mind...

My husband is a college student, majoring in Computer Sciences and German. He wants to go to Germany this summer to immerse himself in the language and culture to better his education.

I will find a way to get his planefare taken care of, but he needs a place to stay. Where can he stay relatively cheaply? He doesn't mind working to help pay for the board, nor does he mind sharing a room.

All around Germany you will find pretty good Youth Hotels, which could be also used by olders That is probably the ceapest way.
If you are willing to spend a little bit more, just give an amount per day and I guess there are a lot of possibilities which will fit your needs

Which town? Munich would be the most expensive the smaller towns in the east the cheapest.

Berlin is somewhere in between price wise. Rooms start at around $200-250/month

Tala, you'll have great chances to get a not so expensive room for your bud near Frankfurt am Main. Frankfurt is a multi cultural metropole and i think your husband can learn alot about germany. And for the language training ... i am living near Frankfurt so i can help him out sometimes as a countermove he could help me to spell english a bit better. Is that a deal?

http://www.ricksteves.com/ and his books are well worth it. He probably knows more about German hostels than the Germans do.
