    anyone know anything about tortoiseshell cats ?

    i am looking to get a kitten, anyone know any breeders ? and how much those cats go for ?

    you should really never buy any animal from a breeder, if you give a shit about animal welfare overall.

    that being said, I believe that tortoise-shell is just a coat pattern, it's not a specific breed. Any kind of cat can be a tortie but it does get passed along genetically, so if the mom has a tortie coat it'll go to several of her kittens.

    You can probably find some beautiful little tortie kittens at your local animal shelter.

      and 99.9% of all tortoiseshell cats are female!

        Calico cats are very nice looking, however most are female.

        Russian Blue is a VERY nice looking animal as well is a siamese.

        Siamese has a wild temper at times, very needy and clingy....

        Overall, I prefer the Russian Blue, have 2 of them and they are the most mellow, friendly and easy to deal with cat.

          dig420 is correct - it's just a pattern, not a specific breed. Basically, a tortise shell is just a calico cat without any white in it's markings. You can usually always find a few of them at your local shelter.
