The Sanhedrin is still law. Few of the religious even live by the rules founded in stone, even by their gods words.

stoning children for things actually did occur, and is in the bible.

god loves the sound of children crying as they get pummelled by the crazed town-folks chucking rocks at them because god said so. not even for punishment, as ritual. stoning children for ritual, amazing...
