How to handle members who chargeback.

Do you threaten them with proof that they signed up to the site and that they are commiting fraud by charging back a legitimate purpose?

And that you are planning to fully prosecute them for defrauding your company?

    Lets hear your thoughts.

Call your IPSP (cc processor) and make sure they blacklist his/her card from making any further transactions with them.

just turn them over to an online collection agency.. Someone here posted a link with some info on this subject.

People who charge back for no reason need a good wake up call.

Sue them in small claims court. You might not ever get paid but you will fuck up their credit report for years.

An e-mail is sent out stating that members who chargeback have their full details sent to all processors used on each site we promote and that their address name and credit card details have been blocked by those processors. Our sponsors also block their IP address or addresses to all sites they own or manage. I know its not perfect and there are always ways around it but it better than saying "oh well nothing can be done about it"

Good luck proving fraud. Extremely high standard in the US. You basically will need a Professor X type overmind to come up with real evidence of intent to defraud.

If your sales techniques are as tainted as most of the other sponsors on this board..
i.e. a) trials that need to be cancelled 24 hours before end of trial to avoid rebill
                                        b) prechecked cross sells
                                        and on and on...
then you should count your lucky stars that the surfer has yet to figure out a way to prosecute you.

For an industry that is basically legalized boiler room fraud, some of you guys sure whine alot.

For an industry that is basically legalized boiler room fraud, some of you guys sure whine alot.
i dont get it, a contract is a contract. an acceptance is an acceptance.

the surfer clicks to say he is over 18 and that agreement holds up. why is it any different if they click a terms of sale agreement?

send them an email with their ip, dates logged in and out, downloaded content and tell them they are given 7 days to send you the owed money + expenses and that otherwise you will sue them

                                                works

To first trick the surfer into extra charges and then complain when the surfer is not fine with these is kinda strange from my perspective.

I urge you to precheck a box during your registration that says

"By checking this box you agree to turn over all your belongings to the owner of this website"

I bet you would get a few people who did not uncheck it, but would you be suprised and in rage because they do not agree to do what they said they would?

Actually "surfer clicks to say he is over 18 and that agreement holds up" doesn't hold up in the US. I don't know about other conuntries, but if someone under 18 in the US clicks on one of those links that says they are over 18 won't hold up in court.

That's why you should never have any nipple or beaver shots in a free area. Parents can come after you if you have those pics and their kids see it.

Ain't really nothing you can do legally about that, because the buyer is claiming he/she never purchased the item. So if you get alot of chargebacks I would not even waste my time with trying to legally prosecute them. Unless you are planning to not only lose but also pay up money to set that up with an attorney. Me personally I find it hard to trust credit cards. Because people fail to realize that they can screw you with a check as they can with a credit card. The best safe scenary is to safe-guard your program. By blacklisting credit card owners from ever purchasing from your website. But if you really are serious about full prosecution, be prepared to lose alot of money. Just my
