A veteran Virgin Atlantic Airways pilot was jailed, facing a charge that he showed up drunk to fly a planeload of almost 400 passengers to London.
This type of thing has been in the media spotlight for a long time now. What the hell are these pilots thinking. The fact that they are thoughtless enough to risk the lives of that many people just boggles the mind. They can't wait to drink untill they are off duty?Wtf.

this sort of thing is not funny, however as a pilot that has worked in the airlines b4 I can say I did see this a lot and it's scary to watch my captain show up knowing full well he was up almost all night boozing it. Common myth about that behaviour is that a couple of deep breaths from the O2 bottle will straighten them out. I have seen delayed reactions from my captains even with the O2 injection...it does nothing. Thats why I left that environment and left the airlines to work for smaller outfits. It made me sick!
But they are all not like that, don't fret. 1 of of 100 are alchkies which is a better ratio than on the streets in cars!!
Imagine all the times he's flown drunk and nothing bad happened.
Face it, 100% of airline accidents are caused by some mechanical failure or freak accident, and have nothing to do with drinking.
I'd say all the hype and hysteria over drunk driving and drunk pilots is just another example of fear mongering by the likes of MADD who want to put more money in their pockets by keeping people afraid of an imaginary boogeyman.
I've always thought dying in a plane crash would be a great way to go. Give you one last great rush of adrenaline before the impact... Which would be a good thing for adrenaline junkies
If I have to die in a plane crash, I hope I get shot first, just to know what it feels like. Drowning and being brought back would be interesting too.
One thing I wouldn't want is a car crash. Before you had time to enjoy the feeling of freefall off the side of a cliff, you'd hit.
