    LOTR: Return of the King smashes Phantom Menace at Box Office

    "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" took in $34.1 million domestically on opening day, easily beating the debuts of the fantasy epic's first two installments, distributor New Line Cinema said Thursday.

    It was a record debut for a movie opening on Wednesday, surpassing the $28.5 million take for "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace" in 1999.

    Mind you, Phantom Menace ending up being a real dud, not at the box office but I felt it was mediocre at best.

    If you haven't seen ROTK, it may be tough to obtain tickets as it seems they are selling out of them way before showings in several places, which sucks for those of us who want to see it again already.

    But check it out!

                                      It was a very good way to end the trilogy. There were some things they left out, however, I think they're minor....

                                                                  Tip: Don't buy the DVD when it comes out cause they release the movie version then 3 months later release an expansion.

                                                                  I'm going to wait until there is a Box set expansion versions.

                                                                      I hate it when they do that. Star Wars did that shyt. First they released the video w/ extra footage, then the DVD almost a year later with EXTRA Footage...and I'm sure the next set will be EXTRA EXTRA FOOTGAE WITH EXTRAS "never seen...digitally altered scenes" w/ EXTRA FOOTAGE. LMAO
