It wasn't an old, rusty one, but a nice fresh one my housemate apparently left lying around.
Doesn't matter, the tetnus virus can be found on clean, new nails too. If you're not up to date on your tetnus shot, go get one.
And stick some ice on your foot and prop it up and get comfy and watch a good movie.

" Tetanus, commonly called lockjaw, is a bacterial disease that affects the nervous system. It is contracted through a cut or wound that becomes contaminated with tetanus bacteria. The bacteria can get in through even a tiny pinprick or scratch, but deep puncture wounds or cuts like those made by nails or knives are especially susceptible to infection with tetanus. Tetanus bacteria are present worldwide and are commonly found in soil, dust and manure. Infection with tetanus causes severe muscle spasms, leading to "locking" of the jaw so the patient cannot open his/her mouth or swallow, and may even lead to death by suffocation. Tetanus is not transmitted from person to person.
Symptoms
Common first signs of tetanus are a headache and muscular stiffness in the jaw (lockjaw) followed by stiffness of the neck, difficulty in swallowing, rigidity of abdominal muscles, spasms, sweating and fever.
Symptoms usually begin 8 days after the infection, but may range in onset from 3 days to 3 weeks."
Tetanus shots usually last for 10 years; however, if you have had a severe wound with a rusty nail, a booster shot within 48 hours is extra protection.
I haven't had a tetanus shot in years. I had a terrible allergic reaction to one in my early teens. I was told if I ever needed one again, they'd have to split the dosage into 2 or 3 shots over several days.

Fuck that. I need a beer.
Few years back I did the same thing, I was running across our local cricket field, and there was an old plank of wood which I ran across. 6" nail right through my shoe, through my foot and out the other side...funny, but the tetanus shot in my ass hurt more than the nail in my foot.
As the nurse put the needle in, I wriggled and she let go of it. There was me laying out on the table with my pants around my ankles and a 100ml syringe sticking out of my ass. If I ever have to have another tetanus shot in my ass, I think I'll just kill myself first, hehe.
Moral of this story, don't let your mom take you into hospital or she'll have a nurse stab you in your ass.
