What I also do is adjusting the crontab file so no 2 scripts are running at the same time.
For example:
Run gallery spider
Stop gallery spider
Optimize database
Wait 10 minutes
Rebuild pages TGP 1
Wait 10 minutes
Rebuild pages TGP 2
Wait 10 minutes
etc.
Wait 10 minutes
etc.
When 2 script run at the same time, it takes more then 2 times the time to complete.
