The speed-dating one sounds like a winner. Even if you take the male-female "dating" aspect out of it (not sure if you'd have as many willing girls), then it would still be a good idea to modify and tailor it so that its just 2 webmasters at a time sitting down to get to know some people that they haven't met yet.
It's a good way to expand your contact network either way.
