My mouse is consuming 2+ batteries a week, and it's starting to piss me off.

The genius who designed this mouse thought it would be a good idea to let the mouse light (it's optical) blink like a fucking rave party when it is idle, and leave out an off-switch.

    It's a Creative Desktop Wireless 6000 mouse.

Avoid this demon-infested crap like the devil.

    Probably manufactured by Duracell ;)
Arguing whether the Democratic or Republican party is better is like debating which steaming pile of shit is slightly less stinky.

the MS mouse that I use rocks...

eats a pair of AA batteries about once every month and a half. I just use rechargeables and don't worry about it.

The reason it consumes so much power is that the mouse lights up half the fucking room even when it is idle.

And I have tried many different battery brands.

At home I've got a wireless keyboard and mouse from logitech. The keyboard rocks but the mouse doesn't work at all.

get a set of NI-MH rechargables. 1000mA ones should last a week easy on each charge as my 1200mA ones lasted 9 days a charge. I had a Logitech rave party mouse once too and that was my only solution. Better batteries.

someone needs to invent a mouse that recharges from moving it. Theres a word for this but it escapes me. Watches have it.

I've had my MS wireless mouse since the end of December and I've only changed the battery three times.

I purchased a wireless keyboard in late January/early February and haven't changed the batteries yet.

Bingo, exaclty my setup too. I use the metal halides, so far they're lasting about 4-6 weeks per charge.

Charger and 2 sets of AAA batteries was about $60 total. Sweet deal, since an 8 pack of duracells here is like $12-to-$14 bucks a pop.

It is a common sense option, yes. But you don't think much about it when batteries actually last. I am getting a recharger though. I hate wires and additional crap, but I guess I have to.
