- Pippin/Merry marry Galadriel where they have nightly orgies

- Aragorn takes 6 arrows into the chest and dies
- Elrond takes the Ring of Power for himself
- Legolas takes Arwen as his bride and they go into the undying lands
- The Orcs learn to make advanced weaponry such as guns and rule the world like in Planet of the Apes III

The real ending deals with the battle for the Shire, Sauramon (Sharkey), Wormtongue, and finishes with many of the heroes sailing off to Valinor. All of this (about 1/4 of the last book) is not in the movie at all.- *** -Comment
