Using iframe tags as opposed to plain old img tags, for showing banners on your site?

ie. if you had to stick <iframe src=whatever> or <img src=whatever> on your page, do you prefer one or the other?

If not, if a sponsor gave you it as <iframe> would you not use them because of it??
