I don't hate it, I almost expect it. Do something nice because you want to do something nice and leave it at that if you can't feel good in doing that then don't do it.
That's why when you do something for someone do it because you want to and this way When These Ungrateful Bastards Dont Appreciate It,you don't sweat it

I do something nice, give advice and ideas or help nearly every day I'm at this computer and I'll bet you I get fucked on it and not thanks at least 90% of the time but I'm not sweating it yet. It shows me someones character and I feel good that I was able to give. And I move on and do it again without hesitation.

But what about manners?
Didn't we all get it drummed into our heads to say thank you?

It's two words.....
Well I don't have expectations of people so I'm either delighted or not disappointed. It's much easier that way, give because you want to give and that makes you feel good, I don't even wait for a thank you or anything, and if i don't get it then I don't help that person again because I've seen their character, but I'll never stop helping or giving to people until I stop living.

I don't disagree with your philosophy. The point of giving is simple....you do it just because....
Saying thank you is just good manners....it's not for reasons of gratitude or anything like that...
Just two words which acknowledge the giver. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Well in my book words don't mean shit and I could care less about a thank you just because someone has good manners. If you appreciate me giving then give to me or others because you appreciate it being done for you.
If a person doesn't show appreciation for something in some appropriate way i just look at it as that's one less person i will ever have to do something for again , makes life alot easier in the long run ...... but yeah it sux too
Then again some people just have a hard time saying, thanks .

Cheers hun
Cheers back, sweets...
In all reality, why would you want to be a giver to someone who is a taker?
If someone can't take the two seconds it takes to acknowledge your effort.....what does that say about them?
There are such things as loving obligations....and the word obligation is not a dirty word...it's just two words which convey a feeling from the heart...that the receiver is saying thank you for thinking of me ...or thank you for doing this for me....
If I appreciate you, I will thank you and most likely give something back at some point....or maybe I won't be in a position to give back...but, shitheads who take what you've given and never say thank you tells me alot about the person.

Well we're not disagreeing, I just don't feel as though I'm going to give anyone a signifigant enough role in my life so as to change me being who I am and how I live. So I'll be me that's something I'm good at.

OMFG, this is my biggest pet peeve in the world. I really *ENJOY* doing nice things for people I like. But it slays me when it is unappreciated. I don't expect everyone I do something nice for to do something exactly equal to what I did for them or anything. Often someone I do a favor for would almost by definition be in a different position from the one I am in.
But I hate feeling chumped and, if someone can not be bothered to say thanks and show appreciation, I feel like they think they were taking advantage, instead of me just being nice. So I might have done something just in the spirit of giving, but a lack of a simple genuine thank you makes me sort of retroactively feel differently from how I did at the time.

Did I tell you how much I really appreciate everything you've done for me? If not, I'm so sorry. I have never been so amazed by such generosity and care that you and GFY showed me.
Thank you a million times over. All of you.

I know the feeling... give it a few more days and hopefully they'll realize they forgot about you and make up for it in a great big gift just in time for xmas.
