It makes more sense to us to buy space at Equinix rather than have our own facility, like I said. As far as cost, our own facility would be much, much less expensive (You could buy a $3mil facility for less than the cost of 20 cabinets at Equinix -- considering mortgage payments). The problem with your own facility is of course connectivity and reliability. At Equinix you have access to a limitless number of carriers at a reduced cost, unparelled stability and redundancy, etc. If it's so lame to be at Equinix, why do multi-billion dollar companies choose to put their servers there? (i.e. Yahoo.com)
And btw, I don't believe ISPrime (who you seem to love based on your other threads) has its own facility -- does this mean they are a second rate host?
Our network has all the essential ingredients to be considered a top level host: Redundant core routers and switches (Junipiter M20's and Foundry BigIron's), numerous providers w/BPG4 routing, and full time knowledgeable staff on site at all times.
and p.s. racks at Equinix are NOT less than $1000/mo.
