I drove down there on Thursday from the valley and was staying with some friends down on Balboa island. It was great being right on the water and about 5 or six houses from the ferry to Newport.
No surfing though but went in the ocean and it felt great. The water wasn't bad at all. It's actually kind of scary some of those waves since they break right on the shore. I'm surprised no one broke their neck trying to bodysurf.

A few body surfers did almost get hurt this weekend, but not from the waves breaking over the jetties.
