That's It - Fuck ICQ - No More

This is a piece of shit program and should NOT be relied on for business.

After trying to launch this thing all morning I realize I shouldnt even bother.

I will no longer be using ICQ for business and/or messages.

If you need to get me on icq, email me first and we can chat, otherwise, having messages on this thing border lines on absurd.

ICQ locks up when i launch it now, for the future if you need me, please email, as I said, if you need to get me on icq, we can schedule a time, but having this thing like a pager is getting silly now, i cant even read the messages i get, mostly just message board drama stuff and my messages are constantly being dropped.

thanks for understanding, any7 of you who have tried to get me on icq in the last week.

Im running 2002a and its rock solid. I tried the new ones and they sucked. If you want to try 2002a and can't find it Fletch just let me know and I'll upload it to my server for ya.

ill still use icq but only if someone contacts me beforehand.

too many people simply pop off an icq and expect this to be a serious way to place an order.

its not.

its like leaving a message on some overnight answering service that doesnt record all messages and then expect to get business done.

doesnt work that way, this thing is for kids and people who dont like to use AIM.

i dont need cybersex buddies.

want to place an order, email me. its simple.

icq is not reliable

I never upgraded past 2001b

was one of the fewer new ones that was stable on xp.

its always ran like shit for me.

honestly, its mostly due to just the number of crap icq messages i get.

its impossible to sift through. as i said, if i NEED to get on icq I will, im just making it clear, dont just icq me and keep asking 'you there? why you ignoring me?' im not ignoring you, i just hate icq. email me.

i dont sit on icq everyday like some, i cant, i wouldnt get anything done. so i tried using it as a message service and of course some people always like to discuss projects on icq, i agree it helps, but at least email me first, sending icq messages for a project and not hard copies makes it hard for me.

i have a few people that get orders to me through icq, and im not talking bad about them, its just a bit overwhelming when i try to open my icq and it has 20 messages just from message board people linking threads and the spam etc. which have NOTHING to do with business, which is why I dont sit on icq in the first place.

That's a good point about orders though... ICQ is nice if you need to get ahold of someone quick or have a conversation, but for more serious things email should definately be used.

I always close the deal on ICQ but ask them to send the information to my email with all the particulars in order to have a hard copy...and funny thing that's the exact thing I call it too

I've just found it difficult to go through history looking for tiny bits of information like specific thumb sizes etc especially when you've had discussions after the initial order.

I came to this conclusion a couple months ago after ICQ decided to permanently stop working on my home PC no matter how many times I reinstalled it. I gave up and deleted it. Now I just check my messages once or twice a week and do my business in e-mail. It's actually a lot better....my ICQ logs were always getting deleted and they are harder to sift through than my inbox/saved e-mail box.

ICQ lite not only has history option, but as far as I know is the only one that works (and not very good, to be honest). I heard of somebody that had a working copy of the full install, but most people told me it's just an urban legend
