FOR THOSE WHO DONT KNOW WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT:
During that fundraiser thing tonight on TV (to raise money for Hurricane victims), Kayne West & Mike Meyers were talking about New Orleans....well, Kayne West went on & on about how "his people" are down there basically because "the president hates black people" ...he said this on LIVE tv lolComment

Isn't it their choice on where to live? I'm sympathetic about all this going on but I think they knew the consequences if they lived there. The same as anywhere else..just move!Comment

The tape delayed Hurricane Relief program will be broadcast on the West Coast in an hour. I'll let you know if the Kanye West portion is omitted.

Maybe he can't like black people that much because he's spending to much time trying to be friends w/ the mexicans coming here and taking all our resources thinking he'll get more votes...?
Ouch I hurt myself, I better go to the ER...oh wait, I can't...all the supplies are gone! Are you trying to seduce me?Comment

dunno bobOriginally posted by Ninja ScriptsDated August 28th
"FEMA is moving supplies of generators, water, ice and food into the region for immediate deployment once the storm passes. FEMA?s Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) and Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMATs) are also staged for immediate response anywhere in the region. The funding and direct federal assistance will assist law enforcement with evacuations, establishing shelters and other emergency protective measures."

Other comments by West: "I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a black family, it says, "They're looting." You see a white family, it says, "They're looking for food." And, you know, it's been five days [waiting for federal help] because most of the people are black. And even for me to complain about it, I would be a hypocrite because I've tried to turn away from the TV because it's too hard to watch. I've even been shopping before even giving a donation, so now I'm calling my business manager right now to see what is the biggest amount I can give, and just to imagine if I was down there, and those are my people down there. So anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help -- with the way America is set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off, as slow as possible. I mean, the Red Cross is doing everything they can. We already realize a lot of people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way -- and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us!"
I agree with this completely. Had the bad part of the hurricane hit Florida instead, this would have been taken care of immediately. Now 5 days after the hurricane people are just NOW getting food/water dropped by helicopters. The way this has been handled is absolutely disgusting. There's no doubt in my mind that things would have been different if it were a rich white community.

OK I wan't to live in a mansion in Beverly Hills so I can just move into one right? Nice theory. NOT. Even in America you can't just live anywhere you want unless you are super rich.Originally posted by spunkyIsn't it their choice on where to live? Oh and before some retard makes some assinine comment like "Well it's their own fault they don't make enough money to move where they want to" Well my point isn't about that, it was to correct the incorrect assumption that ANYONE can move ANYWHERE at ANYTIME which is NOT true.Comment

It didn't appear that Kayne West's comments were deleted or edited for the tape delayed West Coast showing of the hurricane relief special.
All in all it was a good program which hopefully raised a lot of money. Having longtime New Orleans performers on (Harry Connick, Jr., Winton Marseilles, and Aaron Neville) was a great touch, as you could feel their sorrow, and their love for the city and people of New Orleans, in their performances.

Amen. I think it is really weird that people are talking about not politicizing something that is about what government is there to do i.e. take care of infrastructure. If that can't be politicized, then is there even any such thing as politics in a positive sense?
