Hello, I'm Westin, the one asking about IICinternet.
I don't understand what you mean in you post... can you explain it a little better to me, like what some of the numbers mean. I mean, does it mean that IIC are #2 in uptime, or that they are the 2nd worst or what.
Please explain, and thanks for responding to my question on GFY!
Westin
You are right, I will explain everythign in detail.
Every Hosting company needs to buy IP blocks to put the servers on. IP's are like the local adresses on commercial mall. When you put the www.yourdomain.com you are only putting a sign for visitors to recognise you more easily. Because anyone wanting to reach you will have to find the street address first.
So if you are a good businessmen wanting to make informed decisions, you will go check out who's in the mall too and maybe ask a few how they find the management, the prices, the maintenance service, etc.
To do the same on the internet, you need to know the IP block owned by the company. Rest assured, this is public informations. Just like the map you can buy at the convenient store. So once you have that internet map, you are able to know who is buying bandwith and hosting sites with them because again, this is public records.
The list I posted here was for your convenience so you could check out the sites that have been "up" for the longest time. What server they are running and the like. Also, it gives you an idea of the reliability of the host. (It's only 1 thing to consider).
You can compare this with another company, like FlyingCrocodyle which is also hosting sites. I am sure you recognise a few sites there as well.
To conclude, there is no secrets on the internet. The IP block I posted about IIC was only one of the many they own. So it is only one thing to consider when you chose your hosting facility.
I'm using a dedicated from IICNET (web229.net)
they are really cheap and have very fast connections.
But tech support is TERRIBLE!
They open my server in 20 days!
They installed only Linux, I have installed the rest! (MySQL, Perl, Modules, Webmin, Etc etc.)
Also they're using cheap hardware. That made many downtimes in first days. Now they have changed hardware and works ok.
Also they don't expert on Linux. Uses standart kernel (no Kernel Recompile, that makes more memory usage and less optimization!)
I don't recommand anyone.
Go get a real dedicated from www.esyr.net
450$ for 1Mbit leased line
150-200$ for server rental fee
You men are CRAZY...... You must own the other host.... get real you cant be this stupid.... They are fast cheap and their when I call at 2:00 am with a password change. They might take a bit to answer but they do and they are great. Did I say cheap and fast...... Have a real look at where this other guy comes from.....
