The UK, has lots of poor areas. I suspect in the USA you just get to see London or some TV shows set in Victorian times.
In truth, a lot of the UK, especially the North has many poor (and sad to say it - stupid) families.
Many do not earn a lot, and are heavily in debt. This has resulted in children not bothering with school. Many girls also now find it easer to get pregnant than work, as in the UK you will get benefits and a flat/house if you have a child.
We also have been fed a lot of fear news stories (much I feel has gone over the top), about child abductions. The result has been to fence of all the school play grounds, and parents no longer allow children to play out. Most parents now prefer there children to sit in front on the TV.
We have the NHS in the UK, but to be honest, its got very bad. It just sucks up money, but is still set in the 50's when it first started.
Toney (wanker) Blaire, has screwed up the country as far as I feel.
Its not surprising UK children are 'sick'.
