Because it is NOT the registrars place to be able to tell you what you can and cannot do with your domain.

They sell domains, you buy domains, it is your domain.

The registrar cannot tell you what you can and cannot publish, that is ICANN's job.

OAEN, thanks for your kind words. I'll look into contacting ICANN.

Godaddy changing your DNS for violating TOS is shitty, but at least you can transfer your domains out. I dont think they would sell or keep your domains on a first offence, so theres nothing to worry about.

          Webair Hosting

I use and recommend Webair for hosting.

http://www.icann.org are the people ho REALLY own the internet, they control every domain, or every tld. Registrars are actually like used car salesmen.

Erm because I run a webhost that registers domain names and have since early 1997 maybe.

How about you go visit Icann.org once and read it eh

Bullshit! Bullshit I say. ICANN is what ICANN is, obviously. But once you click "I agree" when you register your domain, you have agreed to the registrars Terms of Service.

If anything this thread has helped clear my mind and focus on a plan of action. Pay the $29, transfer out on the domain in question. Look into transferring out all my other domains over time and don't use Godaddy ever again.

GoDaddy are known fuckups. Here's just one example:

                        http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/34067.html

Best advice -- whether its domains, hosting, mail server, just about anything: use someone with an adult industry connection -- Domain Name Systems, CW Nic, Direct Nic, Nat Names, etc. ... you will never go wrong, always be able to get a hold of them, they respond to board postings, and someone you know (if not yourself) will know them well.

Alot of people will say " gee i have never had a problem " but when a problem arises , it then becomes a major problem.

Dont wait around until you get screwed over , TRANSFER your domain ASAP regardless of cost. You will end up paying more in the end.

I had a $4000 / month domain that got pulled from godaddy because of an error. It took 7 days to figure it out plus $200 in phone bills.

Total losses $1200 for a $7.95 domain. No "were sorry" no " we will re-imburse you the costs " . " nothing "

Template driven responses from tech support, imbeciles running the phone support and totally shitty service as a whole

Godaddy stole over 100 my domains over 1 year ago.
They just stopped working. I called them, they say it's problem with my dnses.
Anyway I don't work with them anymore

[wow this it my 100th post )) ]

I've opened an account with Directnic, and I've authorized the $29 butt rape with godaddy... transferring out.

Anyone ever had problems with namecheap.com? I have quite a few domains at godaddy and I am considering moving them all to namecheap.com, I have alot at dotster.com too which I love but damn $15 these days is way to high to pay for a domain when there are others out there at half the price.

Anyone suggest an under $9 per domain registar?
