The $2K Project

In about 2 weeks I will be borrowing $2,000 dollars. (Why am I waiting roughly 2 weeks? Simple - my bank is offering a lower APR as a special starting on July 25th.)

Now, I'm new but not... moronic 'I wanna make teh millions sellin pron!~!" new. I've been researching this business venture for a long time now, and now it's time to put that research into action.

I figure whatever your opinion of newbies is, this should be an entertaining thread. If you're a newbie as well, you'll see what's possible when you take a little risk and research what you're doing and who you're working with. If you've been in the game for a while and like seeing newbies come up, this can give you a possible business partner for the future. And, lastly - if you've been in the game and generally hate newbies... well, you just might get to see one put themself 2K in debt.

Now, 2K may not seem like a lot to most of you... well, correction: some of you. I'm talking dollars, not post count... after lurking for a year or so I get the feeling a lot of people here talk a lot of shit without the bank accounts or business skills to back it up. Anyway, 2K is a good bit of money to me, considering I'm a college student currently working a dead-end job for $7 an hour... which ends up being something like $5.50 after taxes. So, making this 2K will take me... around 363 of work if I put every dime I make towards paying it back. So, is it a huge risk? No... If there's ever a time to put yourself in debt, it's when you're 20. But it's a risk none the less.

I'll bookmark this thread and bump it when things get under way. I'll be posting my initial costs, the traffic I generate and purchase, the productivity of said traffic, the sponsors I use, the conversion ratios I get, the designer(s) I use, the amount of money I make, and the profit or loss at 30 and 60 days.

Succeed or fail, everything will be here to see.

Comments are welcome... however I already know which sites I'll be promoting and where I'll be buying traffic and who I'll be contacting for design. So, no sex.com affiliates need bother, nobody needs to whore themselves and their refferal ID, and I don't need to see any design portfolios. Chances are, I've read about your traffic, looked at your portfolio, and know what sites your current sponsor has. Wait....what am I thinking? Whore away and bump my thread for me. Hate away if you'd like - but everyone here was in my position (maybe not borrowing cash, but being new) at one point or another.. unless you had someone take you by the hand.
