Fucking sweet.. now only about 8 million other religious fuckwads who have raped boys/girls left to go"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."

Of course... And they should. What was done wasn't right. If he were sexually violated, it would be a suitable punishment. I wouldn't have done it. Not worth ruining my life over. I won't be shedding any tears over this priest, however.Originally posted by baddog

I just hope people remember to separate the message from the flawed messenger. Blaming Christianity for a priest's pedophilic criminality is akin to blaming the art of Plumbing because a drunk plumber ran your dog down. Nevertheless, reductivism sure is infectious.

I totally agree. I just think this is a prime example of karma coming back and biting you in the ass, even if it was years later.Originally posted by $5 submissions

Pilger pleaded guilty to sexual abuse in 1995 for abusing three altar boys in 1968 and 1969, when he was their pastor in Morganfield in western Kentucky. He was sentenced to five years' probation beginning in January 1995.
Probation? That upsets me a hell of a lot more than hearing about his death.Comment

For a crime 25+ years earlier the state was probably lucky to get probation.Originally posted by Rich
Probation? That upsets me a hell of a lot more than hearing about his death.
Not untill recently most sex crimes against children there was a statute of limitations that ran out in like 3-7 years.
Now alot of states are adopting new laws that the statute of limitations does not begin until the child reaches the age of majority which is 18 in most states..and then they've even extended the statute of limitation up to 12 years on a lot of cases. So in reality the statute of limitations can be up to 30 years.
But I will have to agree with the poster above murder is by far the worse crime.
Of course any crime against children is going to enrage people, but we live in a society with laws and they are there for a reason.
Vigiliantieism (sp?) while in alot of cases would be just fucking fantastic it's against the law and once again for good reason.
When I was living back in Texas a mentally disabled man moved into a house where a sex offender had lived previously. Of course some bubba found the address off of the sexual offender database website and got a few of his friends to go over with him and show the pervert a lesson.
Well too bad the guy that they put into the hospital was the wrong man.
Also in getting back to the murder vs sex crime issue.
It has gotten to the point where I think people have lost focus.
Here are 3 examples just made up mind you but this is exactly they would play out in real life:
Case #1:
Man follows young child into bathroom at wal-mart and puts his hand down his pants and grabs his ass.
Man is convicted sentence could range from probation to life depending upon his past.
For this example let's say this man gets 7 years and serves 4.
Man gets out of prison and now has to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life everywhere he goes.
Police by law are supposed to track this individual.
Or:
In some states once you get out of prison they immediately ship you off to a mental institution claiming you are a danger to society therefore serving even more time in prison.
Case #2:
Man follows young child into bathroom at wal-mart and beats the child severely but does not kill the child.
Man is convicted servers 7-15 years in prison.
Gets out goes on probation. Serves his probation time drops off the face of the earth out of view of police and other government officials. No tracking this man because he didn't fondle someone.
Case #3
Same as above but man does kill the child.
Man is convicted and serves anywhere from 15-33 years in prison.
Once again he gets out on probation, serves his probation time and as pointed out above there is no tracking of this man. He goes on about his merry way.
Of course the argument will always go back to recidivism.
However you cannot deny that murder is the ultimate crime in this world. You have crossed a barrier that no human should ever cross.
Anyway I think it's strange. If there had to be a choice made I personally would rather them track murderers and other violent offenders. For rent - ICQ 127-027-910
