Webmasters are more banner blind than surfers, with my volume off, I cannot honestly even name one banner up there.
So, he does something to get you to look. It works, because people make multiple threads about the ones who DO make noise, and then other people go LOOK for them to see what the hell

I agree there's probably very few leaving GFY over them but I bet the number of people completly turned off of a sponsor first impression is quite high. I've certainly not clicked the "Fuck my pussy!" banner, but if some banner was yelling out "$100 per free signup" it might catch my attention
