    Englishmen, I've a grammar problem :-)

I have a free while.... I noticed a grammar problem... What does this sentence mean:

"Any surfers don't fuck every day"

Does it mean that NONE of the surfers fuck every day or does it mean that some surfers do and some don't? I think it is the first alternative, but I'm not sure... If yes, how could I say that only some surfers fuck every day? I think this sentence:

"Some surfers don't fuck every day"

isn't gramatically right, because there can't be any "SOME" in the negative sentence.... Please, Englishmen, describe it.

    thanks

The correct way to say this is "Isn't Grammatically Correct"

          and grammatically is mis-spelled

Why would you want to say something like that? The statement, no matter how it's worded, sounds like a European trying to speak Engrish. Anyway, the correct way to word that statement would be something like "Not all surfers fuck every day".

"Some surfers fuck every day" or "Some surfers don't fuck every day". They're both right...just depends on what you're trying to put emphasis on--the surfers that do fuck or those that don't.

Either way, it doesn't sound like the beginning of a very successful text ad...lol

The first sentence doesn't make any sense.

The second means "A certain proportion of surfers don't have sex on a daily basis," but is a slightly clumsy way of saying it.

LoL, you should write questions for the LSAT's logic section. LOL

That statement is not true and we all know that porn sites can not make a misleading statement.

Any + don't = wrong determiner for the verb form

                        Some + don't = correct

                        None + don't = double negative, incorrect

All + don't = technically correct but clumsy

Nothing wrong with the grammar, it's no different from saying for example 'some people don't wash every day'

I reckon they missed the letter 'M'

That is a double negative. If you DON'T know NOTHING, then it means you know something.
