On most of the fake Louis Vuitton bags you can tell they are fake by the cheap straps. The light colored leather straps aren't real, and never darken.
My wife has a real bag. Her cousin has the same one, but fake. Paid $380 for it (the real was $1000). The straps on my wifes have "worn in" some and are darker from the wear. The ones on her cousins bag look the same color as the day she bought it...SharkyComment

You can tell the difference. Prada's tags are different on the outside - fake no tags on the inside nor do you get an authenticity card. Gucci has the numbers on the inside aswell and for the most part the logo inside the bag aswell instead of some cheap label. LV the material is different and just not the same (including #'s etc.,). I just got back from a trip to New York.
If you want fake bags, go to Canal Street in Chinatown.
There are tons of stores there selling knock offs of every major designer you can think of. Typically, you pay $20 to $30 per bag.
My wife loves to buy the fakes becuase they look just like the real thing for a fraction of the cost. She likes to look stylish but think's it's stupid to pay $500 for a purse no matter how nice it is.
BTW, when we were there, the cops were busting some of the merchants selling the fake bags. It was hilarious watching all the merchants scrambling to close their stores and hide the bags when the cops came around. One store we went into actually had a secret room behind a wall in the back of the store where he kept all the "good stuff." No shit! It was like doing a drug deal.
In case you didn't know, it is ILLEGAL to sell knock offs of designer bags. That's why you have to be very careful when you buy on the Net. You can't expect to get your money back because you are already buying an illegal product.Comment

Gucci- i only have purses and shoes (no clothing) but still i find the style and quality to be what i want.

well the reason to buy the real thing is the quality of them. I got my first gucci bag when I was 12 or 13 and I carried the damn thing for nearly ten years. If you average out the cost of it I think it would have been about $30 per year for purse expense. A lot of women go through three or four cheaper bags a year at anywhere from $10 to $50 bucks a pop. Now, it's a lot more economical to actually buy the good stuff. Same thing with my Coach and Luis Vuitton bags, I carried both of them for several years each. Basically until I was tired of them. Now, I give my retired coach and gucci bags to my 11 year old and if she sees a new one that she wants I buy a knock off for her. She can have the real stuff when i'm convinced she can appreciate the value of it.
