Right now they pay out maybe $20 per month. What if they could be had @ 65% recurring (6.50/mo) with no consoles or other crap. Keep in mind retension can approach many months on a site like that. Would only take 3 months to approach the per signup payout level and you would be able to have very clean promotion.

how can you compare 199 monthly fee whos talking about 199
I know facts, I had all my membership fees set at 24.95 now its at 29.95 there is no difference in retention. Same goes to those who joined at 18.95
What makes a big difference is UPDATES and REAL updates but again most dont want to hear that because updates cost money.
Read the next line, I said i'm not just talking about the two extremes. And we've all done our own research and number collecting. Most people in this business like to mimick (not saying you). They take what they see, figure it works and go with it. Times are changing in this business, as many people know, and it calls for new approaches. Surfers just aren't too keen on buying $39.95/mo memberships anymore. They've been fucked before and they know to read the terms of the membership. And the billers (unless you have some sweetheart deal) are very forward about how the charge will recurr. You're not dealing with the mindless credit card holding surfer you were dealing with 7 years ago.

I am the last person who does what everyone else does! Almost all my sites are unique.
Never tried to go at 10 bucks but know for a fact not from research but FACT that updates is the key to retention.
I think if a surfer wants to sign up too a site/program that they are really intrested in, price won't matter whether it is $10 or $30. They want too see it right then and they will pay the $30. I have no problem converting a site that sells at $30/month right now.
Would I have more sales if it was only $10? Don't know but I like it at $30 if I can sell for it for $30.

I would guess you prefer per signup programs anyway

Actually I don't promote any PPS programs. What I'm promoting right now is doing great rentention and still charging $20-$30 for sufer to signup. Rebills are great
Escort and GoGo are both right. Price does have an effect, but it's not that huge. Once they pull out the wallet it's more about whether they are educated surfers than the price.
Price does have a huge effect of chargebacks. Low rates make chargeback not worth the time, so cb ratio drops. If you're pushing the ratio, drop your price.

I don't run paysites, but it's something i do want to get into in the future. I agree with EB though. To me, it just makes more sense. Updates are what is going to keep the surfer coming back. People want good original porn, and they will pay for it. I believe your pricing has to be competitive, but certainly not as low as 10 dollars per month.
What i want to know is this. What is considered ideal in terms of updates? Weekly? Daily? Obviously it reaches a point where memeber retention will max out, or when more updates will have a negligible effect on updates. What i want to know is.. when do you believe that point is reached? Weekly seems to be pretty popular on exclusive content sites. Would daily have a big impact on retention, or would the extra retention (if any) not be enough to make up for the cost of daily updates.
I guess it would differ from site to site.. but anyways. Thoughts?
