we get that attention because we have (and you live in) the highest hiv per captia sqare block area in north america. it might not be now, but it was when i worked at hempbc between 1998-2000 and it's only gotten worse. being the warmest big city in canada, scum gravitates here. i've only otherwise lived in scarbarough and la, and yes if i had to choose to be dropped into the worst part of any of the three, it would be vancouver. but this city has gotten alot worse in the past couple years. still my favourite place in the world though.Originally posted by Magnus3X

I have lived in 4 Provinces and 1 Territory.. in 4 of the largest cities in Canada.. Vancouver is very safe..it has a large social problem indeed..but in every major center across Canada I see the homeless, drug dealers and drunken crackies. Vancouver itself is a very small city and it gets more attention than the rest of Canada for it's junkies and famous corner.
More sad than unsafe IMO.Comment

Conde Nast Traveller in this coming issue rated Vancouver as the #2 destination to visit in all of the Americas (Victoria, BC was rated #1). That is the largest travel mag out there and they used a bunch of criteria to evaluate the choices and Vancouver beat Cancun, Las Vegas, NYC...
Its not fair to look at specific incidents and draw sweeping conclusions. We do have a huge drug and homeless problem that causes us to have the highest property crime rate in North America per capita (I believe Miami, FL. was #2 and was way behind), but with regard to murders, muggings, shootings...Vancouver is a very safe place. Take away the crazed druggies and it would even more so.Comment

Hehe I never had any trouble in Vancouver, other than the trouble Makingcoin and I start at the Roxy.
It also might have something to do with the fact that I am 6"0 200+ pounds. People usually don't look at guys like me first to rob, they go for an easier target.

1- Alberta$$$

Provinces that receive more than they give:
