Opera+hardware firewall+NAV2003+Anti-spyware trap+COMMON SENSE = SAFETY.
Your first step is getting off IE and onto Opera. Firefox is just as retarded as IE in allowing web sites to take over your box in many instances. Second is get behind a damn hardware firewall. Next get a solid virus/exploit web trap that works on all browser platforms and is self updating.Comment

how come I never get infected or exploited? I am behind a hardware fierewall so most exploits dont even have a chance to even reach my actual NIC and ones that do are quickly blocked. I have serious security going on here.
As for browser based exploits and hijacks... Opera + "Spy Sweeper" + NAV2003 Web Trap have served me very good.Comment

The worst thing I see is when people allow others to use their machines. 15 minutes later and the thing is flooded with spyware and adware. Windows right out of the box is just dangerous.Comment
