Bottom line, every ethnic group was discriminated against in America at some point. The pendulum needs to be released and to just plain point down. I'm going to hire the best person for the job. As long as they didn't go to Florida State.

Affirmative Action is worse than Communism. The basic tenets of Communism are "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." Affirmative Action says "From each according to his parents' money to each according to the lack of his parents' money." Affirmative action is just a funnel politically forcing resources from the most efficient free market equilibrium system to a less efficient system. Any economist could tell you that the delta between the most efficient system and the AA system is economic loss. That money comes out of our community's pocket - and the funniest part is that the profit there could be used to fund better education as a whole, or to use as the owners of those profits see fit. The irony is so ironic.

I'm a believer in Rand's objectivism. The point being that you should always strive to be the best and most efficient you can be. Tweaking the inputs to an efficient equilibrium system causes waste and a lesser product.

And that's the academic version. The reason that politicians don't agree with this is that they managed to get in to college with their parents' money and not because of their ability. Part of my money that I am forced to pay in property tax goes to educate the children in my township. That's acceptable. But part of my money goes to pay for someone else's township to educate their children. Now I'm not happy about paying for someone else's kids but I know when it comes time for my kids to be in school they will be paying for them. But as soon as that money leaves my community and goes somewhere else, that's where I draw the line.

I don't care at all if the people outside my town get educated or not. I'm not oppressing them. I'm just saying that I don't believe that I am responsible to educate their children. If they have jobs, they should be able to afford schools. If they don't have jobs, they have all that time to educate themselves and their children.

okay, obviously you are not old enough to start paying taxes yet.

Now I'm not happy about paying for someone else's kids but I know when it comes time for my kids to be in school they will be paying for them. But as soon as that money leaves my community and goes somewhere else, that's where I draw the line.

I don't care at all if the people outside my town get educated or not. I'm not oppressing them. I'm just saying that I don't believe that I am responsible to educate their children. If they have jobs, they should be able to afford schools. If they don't have jobs, they have all that time to educate themselves and their children.

how do you expect for someone to educate themself when they were never educated to begin with? if people have been taught to walk in a circle all their life what makes you think that they will one day start walking in a square?

My kids went to high school in a very wealthy, mostly white community, however, the community is very small, so they had to share schoolbooks instead of getting their own.

My daughter graduated UCDavis in 3 years, and my son enters the fire academy in January.

It is about applying yourself, not how pretty your school is

Ever seen Die Hard 3? Where Jackson is all over Willis for racial comments left and right while Willis hadn't even hinted at being racist..... that's how it is in a lot of places too. I'm not saying that's how it is 100% of the time, not even close....

but there are a lot of number of times when a black person will scream RACIST at a white person while the white person is just a police man writing the black man a ticket for doing 130 in a 60.

If you CONSTANTLY think that "the white man" is putting you down..... then perhaps you should look in the mirror. There is a racist... and IT'S YOU.
