Wrong. Very wrong even.
One of the main problems of IE is allowing ActiveX controls. ActiveX controls are a major security risk. Mozilla does not allow ActiveX controls, and thus the single biggest cause of exploits is gone.
Aside from that, Mozilla is open source... meaning a large community tries to exploit it before it is officially released and searches for flaws, and those exploits and flaws are fixed before you ever get to use it. So, there's less chance of large mistakes in versions that get released.
