Woman trampled in sales rush

A middle-aged woman has been flattened in a holiday shopping rush as customers trampled her in a race to the bargains.

The woman was knocked over at a Wal-Mart store in Florida as the post-Thanksgiving sales began.

She hit her head on the floor and suffered a seizure but shoppers ignored her sister's calls for help.

Instead, people carried on shopping around injured 41-year-old Patricia van Lester at the shop in Orange City.

"I screamed, 'Stop, don't step on her, my sister is on the ground', and nobody would listen," Ms van Lester's sister Linda Ellzey told the Local 6 news channel.

Ms van Lester and her sister had waited since 3am for the shop to open in the hope of buying a bargain DVD player for their mother.

The pair were among the first shoppers to get into the store when it opened at 6am.

Ms van Lester was airlifted to hospital in Daytona Beach, where she is expected to remain for several days.

Wal-Mart could not be reached for comment.

I went shopping once on a sales day at filene's basement in Boston. An old lady hit me over the head with a bag for no apparent reason and then took the item I had been looking at on the rack. Last time I did that.

yes. Years back I went to get this really hot toy at the time, and as soon as the store opened it was a mad rush to that area of the store and people were grabbing them like crazy, pushing, elbowing.

Ever notice that pretty much everything added to the Constitution after the original was a mistake.

They should have more clerks there to at least try and keep things somewhat orderly. Walmart will pay thru the nose for that happening. The place we were yesterday morning had some problems too. People came from the parking lot and tried to shove in when the libe was filing in (orderly). But they had some pretty good sized clerks there to stop them. lol

Why these assholes have to all trample out on the same day to shop blows my mind, but, I have devised a way to deal with them.

Have a great breakfast, lots of coffee, then pack a bong or 2 for the pre-ride smoke. Leave around 1pm

Have a smoke on the way there in the truck...

All the breeders that have to be there at opening with the brats in tow are now at the local Mcdonalds / Burkerking, whatever feeding the brats pre-chewed food.

5pm - hit home depot for stuff / breeders are now home eating dinner

Its great to stand in line all blazed out.....nothing else to do, might as well be blasted

Off to shop I go for lights to go on the outside of my house.....

At wal mart in my town, there was 2 ladys fighting over the last $99 TV....cops were called and everything.......I dont do "Day-After-Thanksgiving" Shopping.......too dangerous!! :O

Some stores were opening even earlier. People camped out overnite. Its like an event. Makes the news every year.

I think its pathetic. I have to stay away from those crowds or I would lose my cool to fast.

This reminds me of the Cabbage Patch murder. Anyone remember the cabbage patch kids? One Xmas a mom was beaten to death in Pennsylvania in an isle by another mom fighting over the last friggin doll. Talk about anger managment!

I was a kid in PA when that happened an yes I remember it. My mom took us to a little local shop and got ours Cabbage Patch Kids (Parker Marsh was mine..lol) and there wasn't a line or anything. Next town over at a big toy store people are fighting over a toy.

That's crazy....

Our Walmarts are open 24 hours a day around here but I think they close for Thanksgiving and open early morning again.

I used to do the day after Thanksgiving shopping with my friends as a teenager... but not anymore. I feel too pressured to make sure I get my share of what's in the stores

People in stores/malls have gotten fuckin annoying as hell. 75% are teenage girls standing around, not buying shit, just talking to boys. Ok yeah that's a typical teen thing, but it's seriously irritating to me LOL Then the little old ladies and the pushy women with 6 kids, her sister's 7 kids and her neighbor's kids, taking up all the walking space as if it's their home or something. No thanks... not me, not anymore!

I'll do all the shopping I can online and go to the stores early in the morning, while other people are at work and kids are still in school
