Guess my neighborhood is going to shit ...

There was recently a $2 mil budget cut on the school system, so they illiminated ALL activities like music class, woodshop, SPORTS, etc.

At the same time they are raising school taxes for my city, and they are proposing a 25% hike in property tax which is fucking high already ... i currently pay over $6k right now annually.

the avg house is/was worth near $500k-$800k in my area, and now its dropping like a ball of lead in a pond.

people are throwing their houses for sale left and right. Just doesnt make sense to pay these outragous taxes, and then pay for private school for your kids.

damnit ....

damn I'm really surprised they took out sports...in most cases they'll cut everything but sports...they tend to forget that the arts are just as important for a well rounded education and even more important for some in that is how they express themselves instead of slapping other guys asses in the boys locker rooms.

They were going to do that around here in different citiies too... some of them went ahead and got taxes voted in and some opted for a pay per play situation. So, some have to pay up to $500 +/- for each sport they do.

But 6k for a house of that value is CHEAP. Come to Ohio... #3 on the taxes of all the states. lol 5-800k house would be more like 12K per yr just guessing.

They passed an "emergancy" sales tax of a penny here several months ago (no vote required) And JUST had a measure to increase jobs by training and all of that sort of thing on the ballot... FREE! What they weren't mentioning was, it made the penny tax permanent!! lol

reading back on this now i cant remember if it was $2 mil, or $20 mil

i think it was actually $20 mil in education cuts and thats why they killed sports, music, wood shop, etc.
